WBL Assessment

Coursework 2 Work Based Learning Report (45%)                            

You are required to produce a written report of approximately 3,000 words, typed and electronical presented. The report should give details of the employer’s organisation; location, type and nature of projects encountered; and your roles and responsibilities.

The report should be clearly structured, with appropriate sections and sub-sections, contents, introduction, conclusion, and appendices.  The use of quality photographs, illustrations and drawings can be included but must be in an appendix as only the student’s work should appear in the 3000 word report.

The report should include but not be restricted to specific tasks carried out during the WBL and should range over the entire WBL experience. While adequate coverage should be given to the technical role, the departmental organisation and its position in the employing organisation etc., the student should also express him/herself freely about how the WBL measured up to his/her expectations.  The student should not include any sensitive or confidential information on the employing organisation .

The following areas should be used as a checklist:

• Organisational structure of employing body;

• Training received;

• Duties performed;

• Applications/projects worked on;

• Applications used (includes programming environments and tools);

• Documents produced; and

• Problems arising and their solution

• The roles and responsibilities of the student

• Reflection of time spent whilst on placement including key learning and personal development. 

Coursework 3 - Presentation (10%)

10-minute individual presentation, providing an overview of the learning experience based around a project(s) encountered, and critically reflecting on the students’ self-development.
